The Microstrain 3DM-RQ1™-45 is a Rugged GPS Aided INS Navigation System. Firstly, it features fully calibrated and temperature compensated sensors.  Therefore, aligning it to be an orthogonal co ordinate system.  In addition, the backwards compatible communication protocol across the various Microstrain inertial sensor families offer seamless integration.  This is a cost-effective solution which minimises development time and makes it ready for market.

Sensor Technology: It employs a MEMS inertial sensor core, high-performance accelerometer (50 µg/√Hz with a ±5g option), and a super-stable gyro (5 dph in-run bias, non-linearity ±0.02% fs, ARW 0.2 °/√hr). The unit also includes a 50-channel GPS receiver and features attitude repeatability of 0.1°.

 

Operational Characteristics: The system allows adjustable sampling rates up to 500Hz and offers independently configurable IMU, GPS, and EKF outputs. In addition, it uses a forward compatible MIP Protocol for optimised bandwidth.

 

Rugged Design: Its alodine aluminium construction and DO-160G environmental rating make it suitable for use in challenging environments. The device is compact footprint of 88.3mm x 76.2mm x 22.0mm.  In addition, a lightweight of 205 grams, with an operating temperature range of -40 to +85 °C (-50 °C optional).
