The Microstrain 3DM-RQ1™-45 is a Rugged GPS Aided INS Navigation System. Firstly, it features fully calibrated and temperature compensated sensors. Therefore, aligning it to be an orthogonal co ordinate system. In addition, the backwards compatible communication protocol across the various Microstrain inertial sensor families offer seamless integration. This is a cost-effective solution which minimises development time and makes it ready for market.
Product Highlights:
- Integrated GPS receiver and MEMS sensor technology.
- Triaxial accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, temperature sensors, and pressure altimeter.
- Dual on-board processors with Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) for precise PVA estimates.
- Ruggedised design compliant with DO-160G standards for harsh environments.
Key Features of the 3DM-RQ1™ -45 Rugged GPS Aided INS Navigation System include:
Sensor Technology: It employs a MEMS inertial sensor core, high-performance accelerometer (50 µg/√Hz with a ±5g option), and a super-stable gyro (5 dph in-run bias, non-linearity ±0.02% fs, ARW 0.2 °/√hr). The unit also includes a 50-channel GPS receiver and features attitude repeatability of 0.1°.
Operational Characteristics: The system allows adjustable sampling rates up to 500Hz and offers independently configurable IMU, GPS, and EKF outputs. In addition, it uses a forward compatible MIP Protocol for optimised bandwidth.
Rugged Design: Its alodine aluminium construction and DO-160G environmental rating make it suitable for use in challenging environments. The device is compact footprint of 88.3mm x 76.2mm x 22.0mm. In addition, a lightweight of 205 grams, with an operating temperature range of -40 to +85 °C (-50 °C optional).
Applications: This system is particularly well-suited for antenna-pointing and platform stabilization, robotic navigation, and drone navigation. Its low-noise, low-drift MEMS gyros and accelerometers ensure accurate and robust PVA (Position, Velocity, Attitude) outputs. Plus its sophisticated Extended Kalman Filter provides exceptional performance, especially in GNSS outage or denied environments.
Software Support: It is compatible with SensorConnect software for configuration, control, display, and logging. In addition, it also supports the MSCL and MIP Monitor software for various operational needs.
This system is an ideal choice for applications requiring tactical grade performance in rugged conditions, offering a blend of precision, durability, and advanced technological integration. Contact us to explore how this sensor can revolutionise your navigation needs in extreme environments.
