Secondly, Modbus connects to a supervisory computer with a remote terminal unit in supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems. Modbus allows communication up to 247 devices to the same wired network. Therefore, the serial modbus gateways allows for unlimited wireless expansion to a traditional wired network.
