4 Wire Thermocouple/millivolt Splitter SP333

The Acromag SP333 makes it easy to send one thermocouple or millivolt measurement to two separate control or monitoring systems.  Without sacrificing signal integrity. It converts a single input into two isolated, proportional outputs.  Therefore, helping reduce electrical noise, prevent ground-loop errors and protect connected equipment.

With selectable current and voltage outputs.  Including 0–20 mA, 4–20 mA, ±10 V and 0–10 V—the SP333 adapts to a wide range of industrial applications. Furthermore, users can power it through the terminal block, the DIN rail power bus or both for added redundancy.

The Acromag SP333 accepts one thermocouple or millivolt input and delivers two isolated, proportional current or voltage outputs. Therefore, it provides a practical way to send one temperature or low-level voltage signal to two separate monitoring, recording or control systems.

The SP333 supports J, K, T, R, S, E, B and N thermocouples, as well as ±100 mV inputs. In addition, users can select from 4–20 mA, 0–20 mA, 0–5 V, ±5 V, 0–10 V and ±10 V output ranges. Since each output operates independently, users can scale the two outputs differently and select either normal or reverse-acting operation.

Protect signals and connected equipment

The SP333 provides 1500 V isolation between the input, power supply and each output circuit. As a result, it helps protect connected equipment from transient surges, reduce electrical noise and prevent ground-loop measurement errors.

Furthermore, users can connect power through the terminal block, an optional DIN rail power bus or both. Using both connections provides power redundancy. Meanwhile, the compact 17.5 mm-wide DIN rail enclosure saves panel space, while the removable terminal blocks simplify wiring and maintenance.

Configure the SP333 quickly

Users can configure the SP333 through a USB connection with Acromag’s Windows software. Alternatively, the Acromag Agility mobile app supports configuration from a compatible Android phone or tablet.

The configuration software simplifies input and output scaling, calibration, signal filtering and other processing settings. Moreover, users can configure each output separately. For example, one output can send a 4–20 mA signal to a PLC, while the second can provide a voltage signal to another monitoring or recording device.

Where can you use the SP333?

The SP333 suits industrial applications that need to send one thermocouple or millivolt signal to two separate systems. For example, users can connect the same measurement to:

  • A PLC and a data acquisition system
  • A controller and a chart recorder
  • A control system and a remote display
  • Two independent monitoring systems
  • Separate control and safety systems

Consequently, the SP333 can reduce the need for additional sensors while maintaining electrical isolation between connected devices.

Important configuration note

When a grounded computer and a grounded input signal connect to the SP333 during configuration, a ground loop may occur. For this reason, Acromag recommends using a USB isolator when configuring SP330 Series devices.
