6000 Series Analog I/O Modules

Series 6000 analog I/O modules condition, amplify, filter and digitise signals from any transducer. All modules have a conditioner & amplifier per channel.  Additionally, nearly all modules allow individual setting bridge completion, shunt calibration, transducer power and gain per channel.

Following the conditioning/amplifier stage, multi-pole Bessel or Butterworth analog filters are provided on each channel of the 6000 Series Analog I/O Modules.  Program control sets or bypasses these filters individually.  Some of these 6000 Series Analog I/O Modules also include a high level analog output.  This provides a conditioned/filtered output to a redundant, external A/D system as a result.  Additionally, a 16-bit successive approximation A/D also follows the analog filter stage.  Finally, some modules also use a single A/D with sample and hold while others have an A/D per channel.

Sample rates are also programmable per channel.  This easily accommodates high and low speed measurements into a single data stream. Furthermore, programmable hardware based warnings and alarms also come with the channel-by-channel architecture.  The digital output modules detect these warnings in the system.  This then provides an ultra-low latency control capability directly from the data acquisition system.

6000 Series Analog I/O Modules & Data Redundancy

To top things off, a Data Redundancy option is also available.  To achieve this, a 2.5″ HD (Module 6095) mounts on the USB controller board in each 6005U enclosure establishing a redundant recording point for the DAS as a result.  Furthermore, in the unlikely event the operators workstation or DAS software fails, data continues to record in each enclosure. Users can then recover data from the system post-test.

Model 6014, 8-Channel Accelerometer Amplifier-Filter-Digitizer ImageThe 6014 input module has eight channels.  Each channel has an AC or DC coupled programmable gain instrumentation amplifier, a low pass filter and sample and hold. This unit also comes with multiplex high level outputs.  Once digitized to 16 bits, these outputs are then output to a 6000 data bus. Finally, each channel has a 2-20 mA current source.  As a result, this powers low impedance, voltage mode charge transducers.

This unit is compatible with low impedance, piezoelectric transducers and low or high-level voltage signals. Users can also couple the input with AC to amplify dynamic signals without the DC signal component.  Finally change jumpers and be combined with this unit to create a DC-coupled instrumentation amplifier.

Model 6017 32-Channel Voltage/Thermocouple Amplifier-Digitizer
Model 6017, 32-Channel Voltage/Thermocouple Amplifier-Digitizer ImageThe 6017 has thirty-two input channels in four eight-channel groups.  Each eight channel group has unergone multiplexing to a programmable gain differential amplifier.  These groups  also have 16-bit digitized resolution that outputs to a Series 6000 data bus.  In addition to this, each channel is also capable of digitizing at up to 2,000 samples per second. Finally, the differential inputs have 50 Megohm input impedance and can safely reach up to ±25 Volts.

The 6017 also digitizes low and high-level signals.  This includes thermocouples or signal conditioning amplifier outputs. Additionally, the architecture, which limits the multiplexer to eight channels per amplifier also provides low channel-to-channel crosstalk and high accuracy.

Model 6018 8-Channel RTD/Potentiometer Amplifier-Filter-DigitizerModel 6018, 8-Channel RTD/Potentiometer Amplifier-Filter-Digitizer ImageThe 6018 input module has eight channels.  Each channel has programmable constant current excitation, a programmable gain instrumentation amplifier, low pass filter and sample and hold. The high level outputs undergo multiplexing and digitization to 16 bits.  Once this is completed the unit sends them to the the 6000 data bus.

The 6018 is also compatible with RTDs, potentiometers and low-level voltages. Each channel has a highly-stability constant current transducer excitation supply that is programmable from 0.5 to 5mA. A four wire input also provides individual signal and excitation leads for high-accuracy measurements. This unit also includes resistance substitution for calibration of RTDs and other resistive transducers.

Sample rate is programmable up to 200 kS/s with 16-bit resolution. Finally, each channel has a buffered analog output usable with a wideband or filtered response.

Using amplifier/digitizer-per-channel architecture the 6029 provides high bandwidth and digitizing speed with excellent channel-to-channel time correlation. It also offers the highest accuracy and completely eliminates crosstalk between channels. It can also condition and digitize signals from piezoelectric transducers with built-in or in-line charge amplifiers and other AC or DC voltage measurements. Input attenuation and current inputs, including 4-20 mA current loop, are available.

The bridge input has voltage and current excitation, automatic balance, shunt calibration and programmable configuration for 1/4, 1/2 and full bridge transducers. The AC-coupled auxiliary input is for ICP/IEPE, dynamic strain and other voltage output transducers.

The 6030 also employs an amplifier/digitizer-per-channel architecture, which provides high bandwidth and digitizing speed with excellent channel-to-channel time correlation. It also offers the highest accuracy and completely eliminates crosstalk between channels.

Model 6031 2-Channel Transducer Amplifier-Filter-DigitizerModel 6031, 2-Channel Transducer Amplifier-Filter-Digitizer ImageThe 6031 is a two-channel, fully programmable signal conditioning amplifier, filter and digitizer. It features a plug-on signal conditioning completion card.  This card is available for strain gage, bridge, RTD, potentiometer, voltage-mode charge, voltage and current transducers.  Furthermore, each channel has a programmable gain differential instrumentation amplifier, four 8-pole low-pass filters, a 16-bit digitized output and a ±10 Volt analog output.  This output is perfect for wideband or filtered response.

The signal conditioning in the 6031 includes a completion card.  As a result, the 6031 is usable with various types of transducers. In addition to this, its programmable excitation provides either 0 to 10.24 Volts constant voltage with remote sensing or 0 to 50 mA constant current excitation for strain gages, bridges, RTDs, potentiometers and other transducers.  This is perfect for units that require a highly stable source of DC power.  Finally, a DC supply also provides up to 25 Volts of regulated DC power.  It also doubles as the power source for current loops and integrated electronic piezoelectric (IEPE) transducers.

In addition to the digitized output, each channel also has a wideband analog output.

The 6033 is usable with 1/4, 1/2 and full bridge transducers, potentiometers and low-level voltage signals. This unit is particularly compatible with strain gages where remote sensing is not a requirement. Furthermore, a shielded four-wire input provides signal and excitation connections to the transducer. Excitation is programmable from 0 to 12 Volts for all channels on the module. In addition to this, an individual regulator for each channel also prevents loading or a short on one channel from affecting other channels. Finally, a calibration mode measures excitation voltage or current.

Model 6036 4-Channel Charge/IEPE Amplifier-Filter-DigitizerModel 6036, 4-Channel Charge:IEPE Amplifier-Filter-Digitizer ImageThe 6036 high-performance charge amplifier can measure dynamic acceleration, pressure, force and strain from piezoelectric transducers. To do this, three charge-to-voltage input ranges optimize performance according to transducer sensitivity. Then, a programmable time constant enables it to make quasi-static measurements. The charge amplifier also has 2X overhead preventing its overload by signals in excess of full scale. A software controlled reset switch discharges the charge capacitor for immediate clearing of an overload signal.

Furthermore, the 6036 also provides two modes of charge amplifier calibration. Voltage insertion mode injects dynamic signals in series with the transducer and input cable verifying the integrity of the input circuit. Charge calibration mode injects dynamic signals through a precision capacitor into the charge input simulating the output of a charge transducer. The voltage input for IEPE transducers also has static or dynamic voltage substitution calibration. External sources provide all static and dynamic calibration signals that are easily removed to be sent out for periodic certification.

Please note that model 6036 is a four-channel, programmable charge amplifier, filter and digitizer with a second input for piezoelectric sensors with integrated electronics (IEPE).

The 6037 is compatible with strain gages employing a 3-wire connection. It's also usable with 1/4, 1/2, and full bridge transducers, potentiometers and low-level voltage signals. Furthermore, excitation is programmable from 0 to 12 Volts for each channel. Individual excitation regulators and careful routing of power traces and grounds result in less than 0.01% effect.  This is due to loading or a short on other channels. Finally a calibration mode also provides accurate measurement of excitation voltage.

The 6038 is usable with 1/4, 1/2 and full bridge transducers, potentiometers and low-level voltage signals. This unit is especially compatible with strain gages and bridge transducers. Furthermore, a shielded eight-wire input provides excitation, calibration and signal connections to the transducer. Excitation is programmable from 0 to 12 Volts for each channel. Remote sensing also regulates excitation at the transducer eliminating line losses. As a result, the effect of loading or a short on any other channel is less than 0.01%. Finally, a calibration mode measures the excitation voltage applied to the transducer.

In addition to this, outputs of the sample & hold undergo digitization to 16 bits and then are provided to the 6000 data bus. The filter is also programmable and provides four low-pass frequencies and wideband.

The 6039 is usable with ¼ (120 and 350 Ohm s/w selectable), ½ and full bridge transducers, potentiometers and low-level voltage signals in demanding, dynamic measurement applications. It is especially compatible with strain gages and bridge transducers. A shielded eight-wire input provides independent excitation, sense, calibration and signal connections to the transducer. Excitation is programmable from 0 to 12 Volts with remote sensing providing regulated excitation at the transducer. The input connector also provides access to ±12 or ±15 or 28 Volt DC power.

The standard 6052 filter is a four-pole or six-pole filter with programmable cutoff frequency from 4 Hz to 5 kHz in 1 Hz steps and the 6052C is a four-pole filter with programmable cutoff frequency from 10 Hz to 20 kHz.

Model 6065 2-Channel Instrumentation Amplifier-Filter-Digitizer, 300CMVModel 6065, 2-Channel Instrumentation Amplifier-Filter-Digitizer, 300CMV ImageThe 6065 is a two-channel instrumentation amplifier-digitizer module. Each channel has isolated input, 100 kHz bandwidth and two outputs for filter or wideband.

The input is two-wire shielded and is also isolated from the outputs, power and control interface. This gives the user complete freedom to ground the input without creating ground loops that introduce noise and offset errors. The isolation also provides for operation with up to ±300 Volts of common mode applied to the input.

In addition to the above, the differential instrumentation amplifier has programmable gains from 1 to 5,000 and automatic zero. The standard filter is also a six-pole Bessel with four programmable bandwidths and wideband. Furthermore, an optional four-pole Bessel filter has continuously programmable bandwidth with 1 Hz resolution below 1 kHz and 5 Hz above 1 kHz. Finally, each channel has two buffered, ±10 Volt outputs.

Model 6068 2-Channel Transducer Amplifier-Filter-Digitizer, 300CMVModel 6068, 2-Channel Transducer Amplifier-Filter-Digitizer, 300CMV ImageThe 6068 is a two-channel signal conditioning amplifier-digitizer module featuring 100 kHz bandwidth and both digitized and analog outputs. The base board contains both constant voltage with remote sensing and constant current programmable excitation supplies, high bandwidth instrumentation amplifier with programmable step and variable gain, 4 Hz to 30 kHz, continuously programmable six-pole, low-pass filter and dual buffered outputs. A plug-on module also configures the base board for multiple types of transducers including voltage, full and partial bridge, voltage output charge (IEPE) and charge output piezoelectric.

The input and excitation are also isolated from the outputs, power and control interface. As a result,  the user has complete freedom to ground the input without creating ground loops that introduce noise and offset errors. It also provides up to 300 Volt common mode operating voltage.
