Battery Box BB200A

The Battery Box BB200A securely houses batteries that back up a ship’s main and other supplies.  This enclosure is custom built using steel.  It has an IP23 rating and can withstand ship motion due to the sea action and weather as well as accelerations and velocities from deliberate ship manoeuvres.  As a result, it is perfect for rugged environments and naval defence applications.

The Battery Box BB200A securely houses batteries that back up a ship’s main and other supplies.  These batteries are maintenance free and built in accordance to BS 6290 Part 4 (1997).  They also have a 7 to 10 year service life at 20°C.  Furthermore, these batteries are high integrity, valve regulated lead acid cells that also have a flame retardant case material (rated V0 (UL94) oxygen index 30).   They are also nominally 24 volt, continuous float and recharge at a range of 27.0V to 27.6V.

The battery box is a custom steel enclosure.  It measures 850mm x 1059mm x 441mm.  It mounts onto shock mounts with top steadies and has a protection level of IP23.  For convenience, repair access is gained through a front removable panel.  Furthermore, the top mounted control and monitoring enclosure also contains front mounting panel meters.  These meter indicate lamps and the double pole ON/OFF circuit breaker.  Finally, louvres allow for cooling via natural convection.

Electrical connections to and from the battery box are made on M8 (x1.25) studs for the main connections and to a terminal block, for remote sense indications.  An M10 external earth stud is also provided on the top of the enclosure adjacent to the gland.
