Wireless Remote Discrete AC Input I/O Module (Wi-Fi Ethernet) NTW2140

The Acromag NTW2140 Wireless Remote Discrete AC Input I/O Module provides a simple and reliable way to monitor the presence of 120 VAC and 240 VAC equipment signals across PLC and SCADA networks without installing new Ethernet cabling.

With six isolated AC input channels and integrated Wi-Fi Ethernet connectivity, it enables fast deployment of remote pump, motor, switchgear, and power-circuit status monitoring as part of the expandable BusWorks NT remote I/O platform.

The Acromag NTW2140  is a Wireless Remote Discrete AC Input I/O Module.  Firstly, it detects the presence or loss of AC voltage from field equipment.  Then reports status directly to PLC, SCADA, and IIoT monitoring systems over secure Wi-Fi Ethernet networks. It is designed for distributed infrastructure monitoring applications where confirming equipment operation or power availability is critical.

The module provides:

  • six isolated 120 VAC / 240 VAC discrete input channels
  • two additional DC logic I/O channels
  • integrated industrial Wi-Fi networking
  • multi-protocol Ethernet compatibility

As part of the BusWorks NT modular remote I/O platform, the NTW2140 can expand to support up to 64 mixed signal I/O channels using NTX expansion modules under a single IP address.

Key Features

  • Six isolated discrete 120 VAC / 240 VAC input channels for monitoring equipment run status and power presence
  • Two additional 0–32 V DC logic I/O channels for auxiliary monitoring or control signals
  • Integrated dual-band Wi-Fi Ethernet connectivity (2.4 GHz / 5 GHz) for distributed infrastructure monitoring
  • Includes an RJ45 Ethernet port for local configuration, commissioning, and troubleshooting alongside its primary Wi-Fi Ethernet network interface
  • Direct integration with PLC, SCADA, and IIoT platforms without external gateways
  • Supports Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, OPC-UA, MQTT, and REST API
  • Expandable to 64 mixed signal I/O channels using NTX expansion modules
  • Built-in edge logic enables event-based responses without additional PLC programming
  • DIN-rail mounting for control cabinet installation
  • Operating temperature range −40 °C to +70 °C

Supported Industrial Protocols

The NTW2140 Wireless Remote Discrete AC Input I/O Module integrates easily with existing automation systems using:

  • Modbus TCP
  • EtherNet/IP
  • PROFINET
  • OPC-UA
  • MQTT
  • REST API

This allows direct connectivity to PLC controllers, SCADA systems, and cloud monitoring platforms without additional protocol converters.

Expandable BusWorks NT Remote I/O Architecture

The NTW2140 operates as a wireless interface module within the Acromag BusWorks NT modular remote I/O system.

A BusWorks NT node consists of either:

combined with optional NTX expansion I/O modules to increase channel capacity.

Systems can support up to 64 mixed digital, analog, and temperature I/O channels under a single IP address.  Therefore, simplifying cabinet-level monitoring across wired and wireless infrastructure environments.

Equivalent wired Ethernet connectivity is available using BusWorks NTE interface modules.  Where Wi-Fi networking is not preferred or permitted.  The equivalent NTE Model of this version is the NT2140.

Typical Applications

Pump and Motor Run Status Monitoring

Detect equipment operation by monitoring:

  • pump run signals
  • motor activity confirmation
  • generator availability
  • switched AC equipment status

The NTW2140 confirms operation by sensing the presence of AC voltage at the source.

Switchgear and Power Circuit Monitoring

Monitor AC voltage presence within:

  • distribution panels
  • breaker status circuits
  • control power circuits
  • equipment supply lines

Provides remote visibility of power availability across infrastructure systems.

Utilities and Water Infrastructure Monitoring

Ideal for:

  • pump station monitoring
  • treatment plant control panels
  • reservoir infrastructure equipment
  • distributed remote utility cabinets

Transport and Infrastructure Equipment Enclosures

Deploy for monitoring AC-powered subsystems within:

  • signalling enclosures
  • roadside monitoring cabinets
  • lighting control infrastructure
  • equipment shelters
