The ITS Model 6115G-3R is a Rack Mount IRIG B Timecode Generator that is GPS Synchronized. It is designed to provide a precise IRIG B serial timecode output as well as a 1PPS time pulse.
Firstly, as soon as it is powered, it looks all in view satellites and locks an internal IRIG B timecode generator to the GPS time reference. However, if the signal is lost the 6115G-3R will automatically switch to an internal clock and continue creating the output IRIG B signal. No massive change in the IRIG Output will occur during this transition.
A unique feature of ITS’s GPS Synchronized Timecode Generators is Dynamic Mode Adjustment. It allows users to optimise the GPS receiver to match the environment. Therefore, it provides the most accurate time possible ranging from a fixed location to an airborne installation. In the event a GPS signal is not available, the 6115G-3R can be locked to an external IRIG B Serial timecode signal. Selection of the GPS or IRIG as the synchronisation source is via front panel switch or remotely via TTL signal. It may also be synchronised to an external 1PPS from another timing device. Therefore, it is important to have recently set the clock so that the drive will be less than one half second.
The 6115G-3R is used as a standalone unit to generate an IRIG B signal. The time of year may be set by the user via the front panel switches. The LCD readout on the front panel displays – days, hours, minutes and seconds and unit status. Regarding power loss, the unit will no longer output a serial timecode. However, it will continue to advance by switching to a battery backed up internal clock and IRIG will resume with reapplication of power.
