FAQs

1. What makes the WOLF-16T5 ideal for general-purpose AI compute and networking?

The WOLF-16T5 integrates NVIDIA’s IGX Thor GPU, a 14-core Arm Neoverse CPU, and a ConnectX-7 SmartNIC on one SOSA-aligned 3U VPX board.  Therefore, combining high-performance AI processing with ultra-fast 100 Gb Ethernet connectivity.
This design enables the card to handle AI inference, data fusion, and network routing simultaneously.  Making it the ideal general-purpose compute and communication node for modern C5ISR and edge-AI applications.

2. How does the 16T5 differ from other modules in the WOLF Thor family?

Unlike the WOLF-16TZ, which is a dedicated GPU payload card. Or the WOLF-16T1, which focuses on safety-certified autonomy.  The WOLF-16T5 delivers a balance of both compute and networking.
It offers the same NVIDIA Thor GPU performance.  But adds the ConnectX-7 SmartNIC for advanced Ethernet, RDMA, and PCIe Gen 5 interconnects.  Therefore, making it suited for networked mission systems, distributed compute clusters, and sensor-to-cloud data nodes.

3. Is the VPX3U-THOR-CX7-SBC compatible with existing SOSA or VPX architectures?

Yes. The 16T5 conforms to SOSA slot profile 14.2.16, supporting PCIe Gen 5, 100 Gb Ethernet, and standard VPX backplane interfaces.
It can be integrated into existing SOSA/CMOSS-compliant mission computers.  In addition, it is supported by a long-term lifecycle roadmap through 2035.  Therefore, ensuring seamless upgrades and ongoing system compatibility for Defence and Aerospace programs.
