The Janus Time Engine Master Controller (JTEMC) is a compact, high-precision PTP Grandmaster Clock. Designed to deliver nanosecond-level accuracy in time-critical applications. Such as defence systems, subsea acoustic arrays, financial networks, and test and measurement platforms. This low-power module is built on the PC104 OEM form factor. It offers flexible synchronisation from GPS, 1PPS, IRIG B, NTP, or PTP sources. It can act as a PTP master or slave device.
🕒 PTP Grandmaster Clock with Multi-Reference Synchronisation
When synchronised to its internal 12-channel GPS receiver, the JTEMC operates as a PTP (IEEE 1588v2) Grandmaster Clock. In addition, it can synchronise up to 10 PTPv2 slave devices across a local network. It also supports synchronisation via:
External IRIG B00x (DCLS) or IRIG B12x (AM)
1PPS (Pulse-Per-Second) TTL input
NTP (Network Time Protocol) — as a client device
If the active time reference is lost, the JTEMC automatically switches to a secondary source. Based on a user-defined priority order. During reference loss, it maintains timing with an onboard OCXO with a drift of less than 36 µs/hour.
🌐 Advanced Network Interface & Web Configuration
The JTEMC uses a 10/100/1000 Ethernet interface to deliver and receive synchronisation signals. It supports:
PTP master, ordinary, or slave mode
NTP client mode (mutually exclusive with PTP)
DHCP and static IP addressing
Up to 10 concurrent client connections
An embedded webserver (compatible with IE11, Edge, and Firefox) allows users to:
Configure all settings
View time, sync status, and lock state
Set sync priorities and reference sources
Adjust sync packet rate (from 1/128 sec to 128/sec in 15 steps)
🧩 Expandable Timing Outputs via Optional Daughter Cards
To expand its I/O, the JTEMC supports a range of optional daughter cards that generate:
IRIG B timecode (B127 AM or B007 DCLS)
Phase-locked frequency outputs from 1 Hz to 10 MHz (in decade steps)
Programmable frequency outputs from 1 Hz to 1 kHz (in 1 Hz steps)
These options allow seamless integration with legacy systems or distribution of precise frequency signals in distributed architectures. ODM services are also available to support customised I/O configurations.
