Battery Box BB24B securely houses batteries used for backing up a ship’s main and other supplies. The BB24B is a custom built steel enclosure with an Ingress Level Protection of IP54. Overall dimensions for the BB24B are 1475 x 1236 x 310 mm (h x w x d). Furthermore, a vent tube is provided to connect the battery box to the ship’s ventilations system. As a result, hydrogen (produced while charging) can be easily extracted. The control enclosure is also bolted to the top of the battery box to ensure it’s gas tight.
In addition to the qualities listed above, maintenance free batteries are also selected and built in accordance with BS6290 Part 4 (1997). Furthermore, these batteries have a 7 to 10 year service life at 200°C. That’s because they are high integrity valve regulated lead acid cells and have a nominal voltage of 432VDC. Please note that the nominal battery capacity is 24Ah at 20°C. Finally, a front removable cover has also been built into BB24Bs design. As a result, users can easily access the battery box for maintenance as required.
