Measurement Microphone Preamplifier for Application-Focused Engineering
A measurement microphone capsule produces a high-impedance signal that should not be routed directly over a long cable. This preamplifier buffers that signal and presents a lower output impedance to the acquisition system. Therefore, it forms a critical part of the measurement chain and must be selected by capsule size, threaded coupling, connector, IEPE supply and available installation space.

Integration and Configuration Considerations
Confirm that the selected measurement microphone uses the correct diameter and thread and that the data-acquisition system provides a compatible IEPE supply. The BNC connector determines the required cable. In addition, check TEDS support across the preamplifier, cable and acquisition channel if automatic sensor identification is required.
Selecting the Measurement Chain
Accurate acoustic measurement depends on the complete signal chain. Therefore, confirm the microphone field type, sensitivity, dynamic range, preamplifier, connector, cable, constant-current supply, data-acquisition input and calibration method as one system. Metromatics can help review these interfaces before quotation.
