High-Density TTL Digital IO for Embedded Defence and Aerospace Systems
As embedded systems continue to demand greater functionality within smaller footprints. The Acromag QMC470 provides an efficient TTL Digital IO Module that maximises channel density without increasing system size.
The module offers 40 bidirectional digital I/O channels. Along with TTL-compatible inputs and CMOS-compatible open-drain outputs. Therefore, allowing a single module to interface with a wide range of digital devices. Individual channels support programmable interrupt generation. Enabling rapid detection of change-of-state, rising-edge or falling-edge events. In addition, programmable de-bounce, minimises false triggering caused by electrical noise or switching transients.
Unlike traditional hardware-configured I/O modules, the QMC470 is entirely software configurable. Therefore, allowing configuration changes without jumpers, switches or module removal. Output readback registers provide closed-loop verification of output status. Therefore, reducing the need for additional monitoring inputs.
Optimised for Embedded Computing Platforms
The QMC470 conforms to the VITA 93 QMC mezzanine standard and interfaces with host systems via a PCI Express Gen 1 x1 connection. Its compact dimensions (26 mm × 78.25 mm) make it significantly smaller than traditional PMC and XMC modules, allowing multiple functions to be combined on a single carrier card while supporting systems with strict Size, Weight, Power and Cost (SWaP-C) requirements.
The module can be deployed on a variety of carrier card architectures including:
- PCIe expansion cards
- VPX systems
- CompactPCI platforms
- VNX+ small form factor systems
- Other VITA 93 compatible embedded architectures
An onboard EEPROM supporting Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) stores module information and sensor data that can be accessed through compatible carrier cards using an I²C interface.
Reliable Digital Signal Control
The QMC470 has been designed for dependable digital I/O operation in demanding embedded environments.
Each input channel incorporates programmable debounce circuitry and input hysteresis for improved signal integrity. Outputs feature integrated pull-up resistors, overvoltage protection and fail-safe startup behaviour, ensuring outputs transition to a defined safe state during power-up or reset without unintended switching. Outputs also support up to 15 mA sink current for direct interfacing with standard relay racks.
