XMC Development Board XMC-DEV-IO

The WOLF-30D0 (XMC-DEV-IO) is an XMC Development Carrier Board.  Designed to simplify the evaluation, integration and testing of WOLF XMC Video Processing Unit (VPU) and XMC Frame Grabber eXtreme (FGX) modules. It does this by providing direct access to multiple video interfaces and connecting to a host workstation through a PCIe x8 interface.  The board enables efficient software development, signal validation and hardware integration in a laboratory environment.

Designed for engineers and system integrators.  The carrier board exposes the I/O of an installed XMC module through accessible external connectors, eliminating the need for custom hardware during development. This provides a convenient platform for validating video pipelines, testing signal paths and accelerating application development before deployment.

The WOLF XMC-DEV-IO (WOLF-30D0) provides a bench-top development environment for compatible WOLF XMC VPU and XMC FGX modules. Installed XMC modules communicate with a host computer through a standard PCIe slot using a PCIe x8 interface, allowing developers to evaluate hardware and software using a conventional workstation.

The carrier board exposes multiple video interfaces that support capture, processing and display workflows while providing access to the connectors required during system integration and validation.

Multi-Format Video Connectivity

The XMC Development Carrier Board provides comprehensive video connectivity to support a wide range of development and testing scenarios.

Available interfaces include:

  • Up to four SDI inputs
  • Up to four SDI outputs
  • Four CVBS inputs
  • Two analogue video inputs
  • Two analogue video outputs
  • DisplayPort input
  • DisplayPort outputs*
  • DVI-I output*

*DisplayPort outputs and DVI-I connectivity are provided for compatible VPU module configurations.

This combination of digital and analogue interfaces enables engineers to validate multiple video sources and outputs while developing applications for supported XMC modules.

PCIe Development Platform

The WOLF-30D0 connects directly to a host PC through a PCIe x8 interface using a standard x16 PCIe edge connector. This allows the installed XMC module to operate as part of a conventional development workstation without requiring a dedicated embedded platform.

The PCIe interface provides a straightforward development environment for software bring-up, application debugging and end-to-end signal verification.

Development Features Designed for Faster Integration

The board is designed to simplify laboratory evaluation by providing direct access to commonly used interfaces and development conveniences.

These include:

  • Auxiliary power connection
  • Selectable 5 V / 12 V VPWR switch
  • External connector access for video interfaces
  • Standard PCIe host connectivity

Together, these features reduce integration complexity and allow developers to focus on application development rather than custom carrier hardware.
