The Dytran Model 4190 is a portable vibration meter.
Firstly it powers the IEPE accelerometer with 2mA of current at +18 volts compliance. The signal from the accelerometer is fed to a low current operational amplifier gains stage. Where it selects the gains necessary to use a 10 or 100 mV/g accelerometer. The next stage is the ranging stage which selects full scale ranges of 2g’s, 20g’s and 50g’s full scale (peak) vibration ranges. Next is the AC/DC converter stage. It converts the vibration signal from the accelerometer to the equivalent DC peak value and displays the signal on the front panel digital voltmeter.
Units are powered by two 9 volt batteries and additional circuitry provides low battery indication. Another feature of this model is the front panel mounted “Bias-Test” push button. It can display the voltage bias of the EPE accelerometer connected to the 4190.
Other features include:
- Rotary “Accel. Select” switch to select 10 mV/g or 100 mV/g accelerometers
- Switched selected F.S. ranges of 2, 20 and 50 g’s full scale
- Large digital front panel meter
- Low battery red LED indicator
- Accelerometer connected green LED indicator
- Operation from two 9 volt batteries
- Front panel “Bias Test” switch to measure the bias voltage of the IEPE accelerometer
- An “Output” jack is provided to allow readout of the accelerometer output signal for monitoring of this signal with an oscilloscope or other readout instrumentation
