Nova Integration’s newest Model 1401 Rugged Colour Laser Printer features high resolution print output, USB port, ethernet port, and automatic duplex printing,
Firstly, it is the printer of choice for NASA. On a specially configured fleet of 747 aircraft, and many other high profile customers worldwide.
The Model 1401 was developed and is the newest designed-to meet MIL spec colour laser printer.
Secondly, it is built around the Brother HL-3170CDW print engine. The 1401 builds on its predecessor with faster print speed, upgraded USB port, built in ethernet port, high resolution print output, new automatic duplex printing, and improved front panel status LCD display. Thirdly, the toner and drum consumables are offered by Brother as standard product and are readily available in the consumer marketplace.
Paper ingress is handled elegantly through a large, sealed, hinged access door on the front of the printer housing; paper egress is accessed from the same door on the front of the housing. Therefore, the hinged top and rear doors facilitate clearing of occasional paper jams, maintenance, and changing toner cartridges.
Standard mounting configurations for the 1401 include tabletop, ARINC shock tray, and 19 inch (48.26cm) rackmount. Standard power input options include 115 VAC, 220 VAC, or 18-32 VDC.
Also, the Model 1401 is a MIL-grade product. Designed to meet Environmental requirements, including an operating temperature of 0°C to +40°C per MIL-STD-810F -20°C to +40°C w/ heater, and a non operating temperature of -40°C to +71°C, humidity – 10% to 95%, non-condensing. The operating altitude is -1,500 to 15,000ft, with a non operating altitude of -1,500 to 40,000ft.

In conclusion, the 1401 has a print resolution of 600 x 2400 dpi. A print speed of 23ppm for both colour and black, and a 250 sheets paper input tray. Also with a 333Mhz processor and automatic duplex printing the 1401 weighs around 29.5kg. It is standard tabletop, and stands at 35cm with a width of 43.59cm and depth of 60.7cm.
Finally, available options include heater circuitry for extended temperature operation. Also conformal coating, front panel indicators, sealed housing for environmental rating, I/O connectors, custom mounting, and customer defined paint colours and silk screening.
