Brisbane, QLD — 2 July 2026 — Metromatics announces the availability of the XSR Spire Rugged Embedded Computer from Spectra Defense Technologies to customers across Australia and New Zealand.
High-Performance Mission Computing
Designed for persistent edge processing across modern defence platforms, the XSR Spire delivers high performance mission computing, secure networking and software defined functionality within a compact, sealed architecture. This architecture supports sustained operation in harsh military environments. Additionally, it also uses Spectra’s proven XSR platform. The rugged embedded computer supports airborne, ground vehicle and multi domain applications. In these, real time processing and low Size, Weight and Power (SWaP) are critical.
Powered by the Intel® Xeon® W-11865MRE processor, the XSR Spire’s engineering also supports mission critical applications. These include sensor fusion, tactical networking, Edge AI and machine learning inference, battlefield management systems, mission command and vehicle autonomy. Moreover, its persistent onboard architecture processes and provides data at the tactical edge. This helps reduce latency while supporting faster operational decision making and improved situational awareness.
Engineered for Harsh Defence Environments
Designed to withstand demanding operational environments, the XSR Spire features a sealed enclosure engineered to meet IP66 and IP67 environmental sealing requirements. It delivers passive convection cooling with no moving parts and an improved thermal design. This supports sustained processing under elevated ambient temperatures and demanding compute workloads. Furthermore, the platform meets MIL-STD-810H environmental requirements, MIL-STD-461G electromagnetic compatibility requirements, MIL-STD-704F airborne power requirements and MIL-STD-1275E ground vehicle power requirements. This provides a robust computing solution for defence platforms operating across air and land domains.
Supporting flexible mission integration, the XSR Spire offers up to 96 GB DDR4 ECC memory and up to 16 TB of persistent onboard NVMe storage. It also provides copper and fibre Ethernet connectivity up to 10 GbE. In addition, optional mission interfaces include CAN Bus, ARINC 429 and MIL-STD-1553B. Expansion options support either a single XMC slot or dual mPCIe modules. This allows system integrators to tailor the platform to evolving mission requirements.
