Embedded Concrete Sensor

Experience a smarter way to monitor your concrete with the Converge Signal® Embedded Sensor.

This wireless, single-use sensor is placed directly on the rebar before pouring. It provides real-time temperature and strength data from inside the concrete.

Designed for speed, accuracy, and ease, it helps you create formwork faster. It improves quality and lets you build with confidence. This tool also cuts down on delays and guesswork on site.

The Converge Signal® Embedded Sensor is a fully wireless, embedded concrete sensor.  It captures temperature and strength development data of concrete in real time. Designed for seamless integration with your concrete pours.  It eliminates wires, reduces site complexity, and delivers reliable insights throughout curing.

Key Features & Capabilities

  • True Embedment: The Signal Sensor is tied directly to the rebar before casting.  Allowing it to capture internal concrete conditions without cables or surface attachments.

  • Wireless Communication: Supports Bluetooth 5.1 / BLE with built-in NFC. It operates effectively up to 15 m when submerged within the concrete — ideal for most structural applications.

  • Thermal Tail Support: For more advanced applications, the Signal Sensor+™ variant allows attachment of one or more Thermal Tails™.  So that you can monitor additional depths or multiple points within a pour.

  • Auto & Manual Data Collection: When coupled with the Signal Live Hub™, data is collected automatically and uploaded to the Converge cloud platform. Alternatively, readings can be manually retrieved via the ConcreteDNA® mobile app.

  • Long-Term Data Storage: The sensor’s internal memory can store historic measurements.  Therefore, ensuring no data is lost.  Even if wireless communication is temporarily interrupted.

  • Robust Design: Rated IP68, suitable for harsh construction environments.  With a battery life that supports active use for months and shelf life of up to two years.

  • Accurate Sensing: Temperature accuracy of ±0.2 °C.  In addition, measurement intervals every 20 minutes.  Giving you frequent, precise data for effective decision-making.

  • Australian Certification: Conforms with RCM requirements, making it suitable for deployment across Australian construction projects.

Benefits

  • Accelerated Decision Making: Stop guessing. Know exactly when concrete reaches target strength.  Therefore, enabling earlier formwork removal and safer progress.

  • Improved Quality & Safety: Detect temperature gradients and anomalies to prevent thermal cracks, inconsistent curing, or material defects.

  • Simplified Site Logistics: No trailing cables, no holes to cut or patch, and reduced trip hazards on site. Just embed and go.

  • Seamless Integration: Data flows into the ConcreteDNA® platform.  Giving you live dashboards, trend graphs, AI strength predictions, alerting, and reporting.

  • Cost Efficiency: Reduces reliance on manual testing or destructive sampling, minimising delays and rework.

Typical Applications

  • Slabs, beams, columns and walls

  • Mass concrete pours and thermal monitoring

  • Post-tensioned or prestressed elements

  • Foundations and structural floors

  • Civil infrastructure such as bridges, tunnels, and precast elements

Two models to choose from:

Signal Sensor

Signal Sensor Model Wireless Concrete Sensor

The Signal Sensor is a fully wireless, single-use embedded sensor.  That measures temperature and calculates strength development using the concrete maturity method. It is embedded directly into the pour.  It transmits readings via Bluetooth® to the Converge mobile app or the Signal Live Unit for remote access.

  • Temperature Accuracy: ±0.2 °C

  • Measurement Frequency: Every 20 minutes

  • Battery Life: Up to 6 months (non-replaceable)

  • Range: Up to 15 m (depending on site conditions)

  • Ingress Protection: IP68 (fully sealed)

Ideal for general concreting, structural pours, and routine formwork timing applications.

Signal Sensor +

Signal Sensor + Model Concrete Sensor

The Signal Sensor + includes all the capabilities of the base model.  In addition, with the added flexibility of Thermal Tails.  These optional extension probes that allow you to measure temperature and strength at multiple depths or across large sections.

Single Probe Thermal Tail
Single Probe Thermal Tail
Multi Probe Thermal Tail
Multi Probe Thermal Tail

This makes it ideal for mass concrete pours, bridge decks, or temperature differential monitoring.  Where thermal gradients and internal heat build-up must be tracked accurately.

Signal Live Unit

Wireless Concrete Sensors with Signal Hub that collects concrete temperature and strength data

For remote or large-scale projects, the Signal Live Hub collects data automatically from all embedded sensors within range (typically up to 15 m). For remote or large projects, the Signal Live Hub automatically collects data from all nearby sensors. It works within a range of about 15 metres. It sends readings through 4G or Wi-Fi to the ConcreteDNA® platform. This lets you access results from anywhere, anytime.

  • Connects to multiple sensors simultaneously

  • Buffers data during network interruptions

  • Reduces manual on-site visits for data collection

  • Supports both Signal Sensor and Signal Sensor + models

Integrated Software and App Support

All wireless sensors connect seamlessly with the Converge mobile app and ConcreteDNA® web platform:

  • Mobile App (Bluetooth) – Used to register sensors, check readings, and view real-time graphs on site.

  • ConcreteDNA® Cloud Platform – Provides advanced data analytics, trend reports, and alerts for strength milestones or temperature thresholds.

  • Mix AI™ and Cure™ Modules – Optional smart features (via Converge platform) that use historical and predictive data to optimise mix design and curing efficiency.

Together, they deliver a complete digital concrete monitoring system — from pour to performance validation.

How It Works

How the wireless concrete sensors work

  1. Register and Install the Sensor
Use the ConcreteDNA® app to register your Signal Sensor+, then secure it to the reinforcing steel (rebar) with cable ties before pouring. The sensor will automatically begin measuring concrete temperature and strength once embedded.
  2. Add and Position the Thermal Tail
Connect a Thermal Tail to the Signal Sensor+ and register it in the app. Position the probe at your desired measurement depth or location to monitor temperature differentials throughout the pour.
  3. Activate the Signal Live Hub
Power on the Signal Live Hub and mount it securely to site hoarding or another elevated position within 15 metres of your sensors. The hub automatically collects data from nearby Signal Sensors and transmits it wirelessly to ConcreteDNA® for continuous remote monitoring.
  4. View Real-Time Data in ConcreteDNA®
Alternatively, use the ConcreteDNA® mobile app to connect via Bluetooth® and collect data manually from your Signal Sensor+. View concrete strength, temperature, and AI-driven milestone predictions instantly on your device.

The result? Data-driven concreting decisions that save time, reduce rework, and boost confidence in every pour.
